Mark Aichroth

Mark Aichroth spent a large part of his childhood at Gillan Cove near to Manaccan. He has had long passion for sailing both big boats and dinghies. He has part owned a classic Swan 37 and raced a Sweden 36 at Cowes Week and in the Round the Island race. Mark is currently working in healthcare in London and Switzerland, home is in Somerset. He is Governor of Port Regis Prep school and a volunteer for Festival Medical Services that provide the on site medical services for the Glastonbury Festival. The charity supports many medical aid projects around the world. Mark spends as much time as possible in Gweek with his wife, Camilla. 

Malcolm Beaton

Malcolm Beaton has taken a number of businesses from start up to significant success, these businesses are in Waste Management, Farming and Property.

Malcolm has a passion for classic tractors and is at his happiest operating machinery. Malcolm enjoys a project and bring enormous energy and drive to Gweek Classic Boatyard. Malcolm also lives in Somerset with his wife, Maria.

Justin Sinclair | Yard Operations Manager

Justin grew up on the water, spending much of his childhood sailing and helping to repair boats with his dad. He joined the Gweek team in December 2019 and has enjoyed getting stuck into all aspects of life on the yard. From learning the ropes as a banksman to taking the wheel on the water and now is looking after the day to day management of the yard and our crane driver. Justin can always be found with a smile on his face.

Alongside working at the yard, Justin is also undertaking renovations onsite on his 36ft former trawler.

Charlie Aichroth - Apprentice Yard Hand

Charlie Aichroth | Apprentice Yard Hand

Charlie joined us in July 2022 as a yard apprentice.  He has previously helped out around the yard with craning season but now joins us full time. Charlie has lots of boating qualifications and experience so will be assisting with collections and deliveries. Charlie brings a smile and a giggle to all he does.

 
 

Robert Stidworthy | Yard Hand

Our new yard hand Robert joined us in January 2023.  Robert grew up in St.Keverne and has spend a lot of his working life on fishing boats in and around the Helford. Robert is looking forward to bringing his wealth of knowledge from his time on fishing boats. Robert helps to teach ju jitsu in his spare time and has achieved first degree black belt.

Gemma Morris | Admin Assistant

Our Admin Assistant Gemma Morris has worked at the boatyard since October 2016. Gemma is from Helston with previous Customer Service experience in local businesses and is your first point of call for all your office and chandlery inquiries.

Kelly Proudfoot | Finance Manager

Kelly has a wealth of experience in commercial financial roles, working for Cornish business’ over the last 20 years. She brings a fresh approach and vibrant personality to the Boatyard.

Louise Walder | Admin Assistant

Our Admin Assistant Louise Walder joined us in January 2020.  Louise grew up on St.Martin’s in the Isles of Scilly and now enjoys living in sunny Cornwall!  With a wealth of previous Customer Service and office experience Louise will be happy to assist you with your enquiries. When not in the office Louise will often be found rowing in the gig for Cadgwith.

We have a number of skilled boatbuilders, contractors and craftsmen operating on the yard and offering boatbuilding, repairs, marine engineering, yacht painting and finishing, GRP, interior work and other services. Contact details for contractors on-site can be found below.

Duncan Skingley | Shipwright

Duncan is one of our resident shipwrights and boatbuilders, specialising in boatbuilding repairs, maintenance, rebuilds, restorations and new builds. View his website here.

Susie Ferris

Susie is Gweek Classic Boatyard's painting and finishing expert, skilled in painting wood, metal and GRP boats.

Andrew Massey | Shipwright

Andrew is another of our skilled shipwrights, specialising in bespoke joinery, restorations and repairs. Details of his completed projects can be found on his website.

James Pardoe Boatbuilder

James Pardoe

James initially trained at the Boat Building Academy and has worked under three well respected traditional shipwrights spanning Spain, New Zealand and the UK. He is currently restoring a Deben 4 tonner from the 1930s. Happy to help with any job, big or small, all types of wooden construction and can take up to 38' in the tin shed.
