Lutine Gets a Lift!

1resized_Lutine of Helford Airbags 2.JPG

The Classic racing yacht Lutine of Helford, was launched in April with the aid of Gweek Quay's new flotation bags. low level spring hightides at the end of the lunar cycle meant Lutine, who draws almost 9 feet had only one opportunity in mid March to leave the quay unaided. This date was too early as she was undergoing an extensive winter refit in one of Gweek Quays large heated workshops.

The launch entailed four large flotation 'sausages' being laced under her keel, carefully positioned to take allowance for the crafts point of balance. The whole operation ran very smoothly and a reduction of over 12 inches of draft was obtained.

This new facility will help allow deep draft yachts to take advantage of the excellent skills and competitive yard rates available at this historic boat yard.
