November 2025 Newsletter
/Dear Gweek Classic Boatyard Community,
With Christmas on the horizon we wanted to send a few updates to you all. Firstly, a big welcome back to all our returning customers, and a very warm welcome to everyone joining us for the first time. We’re thrilled to have you with us and look forward to another fantastic season at Gweek!
We are now concentrating on the pressure washing and we appreciate your patience as we work through the list; we will get to your boat as soon as possible.
First, a thank you
We would like to start by saying a huge thank you to Luke, Duncan, Susie and Andrew for stepping in to help with craning. We were fortunate to have Tony join us to drive the crane during the lift-out period, while Andrew and Tristan assisted with boat collections for us. Together with Rob, the team ensured that all boats were safely lifted out for the winter - a massive help and greatly appreciated. Your efforts have made a real difference - thank you all for going the extra mile!
We know this has meant some of their usual work has fallen behind schedule, and we really appreciate everyone’s cooperation and understanding as everything is getting back on track.
Thursday 4th December 2025 - different office hours
Please note the office will close early on Thursday 4th December at 2.30pm - we will open again as usual on Friday 5th December at 9:00am. The yard staff will still be on site until 5pm on the 4th, but the office will not be manned.
Can we please remind everyone of the following:
Remove all sails and dodgers and ensure spray hoods are removed or lowered to allow minimum resistance to the wind.
Ensure the area under your boat is clear. If we experience any high winds or high tides these can be a danger (any tenders stored must be agreed by the yard/office).
If you have put a cover onto your boat please ensure it is secured correctly and DO NOT tie anything to your boat stands or chocking.
If you would like electric and have not yet organised this with us please speak to the office. Please do not unplug another boat even if it is just for a short time - this causes issues so please be mindful.
We are not able to provide ladders so please provide your own labelled ladder. Ensure it is safely tied on but able to be removed if required.
If you would like us to order anything for your boat this season, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We receive deliveries twice a week and are always happy to help source any items you may need.
Please remember to take your rubbish away with you - our bins are for the liveaboard residents only.
We are next to the water and need to ensure nothing contaminates the river. If you see an oil spill please notify us immediately; there are spill kits around the yard.
Oily waste MUST be taken away from the yard. Please do not leave containers with any oily products under your boat.
Driving and parking on the yard
For everyone’s safety, we kindly ask all staff, contractors, and visitors to keep speeds to 5 mph while moving around the yard. Slowing down helps prevent accidents and keeps the yard a safe and welcoming place for everyone. Thank you for helping us look out for each other and for keeping our yard safe.
We are aware that parking is limited on the yard and we ask everyone to be mindful of available spaces and park considerately to help make room for all. If you are unsure please do pop into the office and ask. If you are going to leave your car for a long period please notify the office as we are a working boatyard and access maybe required to a boat or area that your car is blocking. Please refrain from parking on the slipway - this is an area that requires access at all times.
Boatyard staff
You may notice a new face around the yard - Simeon has joined us as our new Yard Manager! He brings a wealth of experience to the team, and we’re delighted to welcome him on board. If you see him around, please feel free to say hello and introduce yourself. We have added his picture to the website to help you out!
Christmas cards & Tide Tables
This year, we have decided not to send Christmas cards. Instead, we will be making a charitable donation and we will send the tide table via email. Our aim is to make our office procedures as paperless as possible.
We are still printing our 2026 tide tables in small batches and they will be available in the office or we can post one to you. Please email info@gweekquay.co.uk with your address, and we will simply add the cost of the postage to your account.
Launderette
Our launderette is now up and running for your use. It currently accepts cash only, but we will soon be introducing a card payment system for added convenience. We kindly ask that you use eco-friendly detergents and treat the space with respect, leaving it as you would wish to find it.
The launderette is open every day and will remain accessible until late.
Welcome to new yard residents
