Classic Norman Dalimore Yacht Restoration 'Tarana' is a classic Norman Dalimore design, a 'single handed gentleman's yacht'. She is a 21ft gaff cutter carrying 330 square feet of sail and was built in 1912 by Coles of Hammersmith. Her history is well documented, featuring in Yachting Monthly in June 1912, in London Sphere in 1919 and more. Built of pitch pine and steamed oak frames, Tarana was bought by an owner looking for a small easily sailed by one person classic yacht. Tarana has now been totally reframed and copper riveted, new hanging and lodging knees, new teak deck laid on top of all new deck beams. Tarana is now nearing completion having been transformed from a very tired run down vessel to a truly spectacular small cruiser and was much admired on the Classic Boat stand at the London Boat Show in January 2007. |
