Meet the team of staff at Gweek Quay Boatyard... Gillian Emerson - Director Clive and Gillian Emerson took over Gweek Quay in July 1997 and began working with the team of staff to provide the services available and to improve the facilities for boat owners. Today Gillian, continues that work - and is seen regularly around the yard. Sarah Carbry - Office Manager Sarah is our longest standing member of staff and a familiar face to many of our customers. With her extensive knowledge of Gweek Quay, Sarah now manages the day to day running of the office. Sarah handles a broad spectrum of tasks from dealing with customer queries, accounts and booking boats through to personnel matters, and generally supporting Gill with other 'behind the scenes' administration. Darryl Hunter - General Manager Darryl joined the team in August 2010 after serving 24 yeard in the Royal Navy. Having trained as a Safety / Survival equipment maintainer / instructor his last 2 years in the Royal Navy were spent at RNAS Culdrose as the Senior Maintainer managing a section of 40 naval ratings in support of the Squadrons and Aircrew on the air-station. Darryl is a RYA advanced powerboat and safety boat instructor and has completed his day skipper theory and holds a VHF DSC radio licence. Since joining Gweek Quay he has obtained his forklift and crane licences and is thoroughly enjoying his role as General Manager to the boatyard. John Davies - Book-keeper John originates from Mumbles home of the Bristol Channel Yacht Club. John has been with us since July 2010 and is available to deal with account queries and general enquiries. David Williams - Yard Hand David joined our team in June 2011. Looking for a change of career after working as a lecturer and running his own business he is now pursuing his love of boats. Coming from a long line of boatmen he is a very experienced sailor, starting racing in dinghies in Penzance as a 12 year old and moving on to racing yachts locally and in the Isles of Scilly. He now has an Atlantic crossing, a Fastnet race and a long trip in the Pacific under my belt as well as several channel crossings, and all of the local regatta weeks. He has been involved in craning boats for several years and hopes to build on his experience working here at Gweek Quay.
Tony Henson - Yard Hand Having grown up on and around boats, Tony trained in boat building at Falmouth Marine College before moving to Devon to develop his skills as a Bespoke Carpenter. Having joined Gweek Quay in June 2011, Tony is making the most of his opportunity in what he calls his "dream job".
